TYPEQUICK LEARN TO TYPE (Version 8.0x) OR TYPEQUICK FOR STUDENTS (Version 10.0x)
ON YOUR NETWORK
The following document provides detailed information on how to install the Typequick network version, as well as answers to problems, and frequently asked question. Please read this document first before phoning Typequick for help.

A. WHAT DO I NEED TO INSTALL TYPEQUICK ON MY NETWORK?
To install Typequick Learn To Type or Typequick for Students on your network, you will need the following:
1. Your Original Typequick Network Master Floppy Diskette. - This is the actual SETUP or INSTALLER diskette.
2. The Blue Typequick Resource CD - This ONLY contains the BITMAPS and SOUNDS of the program.
3. Your registration details which have either been faxed to you, or included with your Typequick network package.
Your registration details contains the following:
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INSTALL TYPEQUICK IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY OF THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS.
B. HOW DO I INSTALL TYPEQUICK ON MY NETWORK?
Typequick is NOT installed FROM your SERVER. This means, that when you install Typequick, you DO NOT run SETUP on the SERVER's floppy disk drive. Click here for an illustration of the setup.
You should log in as an ADMINISTRATOR or a user that has ADMINISTRATIVE RIGHTS on your network. If any of the steps below is unclear , see Part C. AN EXAMPLE OF INSTALLING TYPEQUICK ON YOUR NETWORK (CLICK HERE):
Follow the instructions below to install Typequick on your network.
1. Ensure that you have all the necessary items to install Typequick. (see part A. WHAT DO I NEED TO INSTALL TYPEQUICK ON MY NETWORK?( CLICK HERE)).
2. Go to a WORKSTATION that is connected to the SERVER where you want to install Typequick to:
a. While sitting on a WORKSTATION:
i. Make sure that you have the drive letter MAPPINGS as stated on your registration details. To check if you have the required drive letter mappings, access WINDOWS EXPLORER or My Computer. If you do not know what a MAPPING is, CLICK HERE.
ii. Insert your Typequick network floppy disk in the Workstations floppy drive.
If you are installing Typequick For Students (Version 10.0x), you will need to insert the Blue Resource CD on the workstations CD drive aswell. If you are installing Learn To Type (Version 8.0x) the Blue Resource CD is OPTIONAL.
iii. Using My Computer, access the floppy drive A:\, and run SETUP.EXE
iv. The Setup screen will now display. Enter your details EXACTLY as it appears on your Registration details. (Please note, the Version on the Setup screen does not pertain to the the version of your Typequick program.)
v. Once you have entered all details click on the INSTALL button.
vi. Setup will begin copying the files from the Typequick Floppy disk ONTO the directory you specified on your Server VIA the mapped drive. The contents of the Blue Resource CD will also be copied.
vii. Once installation has completed, a Typequick program group will be created in the Start\Programs folder on the workstation. Click on the Typequick icon to start the program.
b. TO INSTALL TYPEQUICK ON ANOTHER WORKSTATION
i. Go to the target workstation.
ii. Access the Typequick directory and run the file WSETUP.EXE. (Make sure you have EXACTLY the SAME drive letter MAPPING as the workstation where you installed Typequick from. )
The WSETUP.EXE will create a Typequick program group in the Start\Programs folder. The program will NOT create a shortcut on the Desktop. You will need to create the shortcut on your desktop yourself. Please consult Windows on how to do this.

C. AN EXAMPLE OF INSTALLING TYPEQUICK ON A NETWORK.
This example is applicable for the following versions of Typequick.
1. Typequick
For Students (TFSNE) Version 10.0x
2. Typequick Learn To Type (WINNE) Version 8.0x
The registrations details for this example are:
REGISTERED NAME : Typequick Pty Ltd - Your company's registered nameThis example makes the following assumptions:
REGISTERED NUMBER: 123456789 - Your registered number, generated by Typequick
FILE SERVER DRIVE: T - The MAPPED drive from which you want to access the program from. STUDENT DRIVE: H - The MAPPED drive onto which the students will save their results (ie. home directory)
Concurrent Users: 10 - The number of users allowed to access Typequick at any given time. Alter Features Number: 987654321 - The number used to access the Alter Features Options in the Typequick programs Main Menu.
To begin installation of Typequick.
1. On a WORKSTATION insert the Typequick Master Floppy disk and the Blue Resource CD on the WORKSTATIONS floppy and CD drive.
2. Run setup.exe on the floppy disk to display the setup screen.
3. Enter the REGISTERED NAME and REGISTERED NUMBER, EXACTLY as it appears on the registration details.
4. Under the FILE SERVER drive and sub-directory field:
Enter T:\TYPEQUIK (You MUST specify a DIRECTORY NAME, that is 8 CHARACTERS OR LESS. e.g. TYPEQ or TYPEQUIK)
5. Under the Student File Drive enter H
6. Under the Number of concurrent users enter 10
7. Under the Log File Drive, leave this BLANK

8. Click on the INSTALL button. Setup will begin copying the files from the Floppy and CD into the TYPEQUIK directory on the SERVER.
9. Once INSTALLATION is complete. On another Workstation,
i. Open Windows Explorer
ii. Access T: and browse to the TYPEQUIK directory
iii. Run the file WSETUP.EXE, to display the Workstation SETUP Screen.
iv. Click on the OK button to install Typequick on the Workstation. A Typequick program group will be created under the Start\Programs folder.
